The farmers protest on the Noida Expressway on Thursday came to an end following assurances by authorities to look into their demands.
The large number of farmers were stopped by police near the Mahamaya flyove as they tried to head towards parliament.
The authorities in Greater Noida approached the agitating farmers and informed them about holding talks regarding their issues.
The Noida- Delhi route which remained affected for around six hours, was opened and traffic movement improved slowly.
Noida traffic police had also issued an advisory in this regard asking people to use alternative routes due to heavy traffic expected on arterial roads due to the protest.
Traffic movement was affected in the carriageway from Kalindi Kunj towards Noida due to the demonstration near Mahamaya Flyover in Noida.
The farmers in Noida and Greater Noida have been protesting since December last year, demanding higher compensation and other demands that include plots in return for their land which was acquired by the development authorities earlier.
Meanwhile, security ws stepped in the national capital due to the protests, especially at the city’s borders.
“Heavy traffic is expected on the routes connected to Soniya Vihar, DND, Chilla, Gazipur, Sabhapur, Apsara & Loni borders on February 8,” the Delhi Traffic Police had said taking to platform ‘ X.’
